I am proud to say I have been an active part of this community for the past 30 years. My children and I have danced in our annual Spring Dance Concerts and acted in our local musical theater, Gloriana. As a painter, I have been a part of the artist community for many years, attending workshops and classes, and showing my work in some of the many local galleries.
The beautiful and somewhat remote Mendocino Coast has a surprisingly wonderful and growing artist's community including: the Wood Worker's Guild founded by world famous James Krenov, attracting artists from all around the world; a co-op gallery that has been in business for over 20 years, including painters, photographers, glass workers, sculptors, weavers, and others. Also, the local College of the Redwoods offers many classes for the beginning or the experienced artist.
And, of course, there are the performing arts. We have an amazing dance studio offering: ballet, tap, and jazz. We have African and Hawiian dance and yoga studios. And although Mendocino has always been thought of the Art Center, now Fort Bragg is coming into its own with great galleries, book stores, and San Francisco style coffee shops with live music. I call Fort Bragg the "SoHo of the Mendocino Coast."

| I have also owned a horse of my own for most of my life, and I must say that this is a great place to enjoy that passion. You can ride the trails, rope, jump, or do dressage. For me, at this point in my life, having a horse is a perfect way to enjoy our beautiful coastal hills and our magnificent shoreline. Our moderate temperature allows me to ride most of the year. |
